Born: Hitchin, Herts 1955. Education: St.Albans School of Art and St. Martins School of Art (BA Hons), now University of the Arts, London. Background: Worked for many years as a designer/illustrator. Since 1990 has been pursuing personal interest in architecture by producing pen & ink studies of buildings while travelling as well as 'architectural portraits'.

Buildings are one of the few ways in which we just occasionally manage to improve our environment. I have always had an amateur enthusiasm for architecture. Without getting too academic about I look for sense of place, character, charm: the quirky detail that makes a building a one-off. The personality of a building develops over time as successive owners impose change and as nature weathers the materials, each structure developing as a record of the continuing conflict between human aspirations and entropy. I try to bring out a bit of that developing personality...
