Alembic developed this brand logo and visual identity for Kosovo Youth Education Project, a charity which actively brings together orphans and young people of the Balkan conflict through Summer Schools and other events and activities in Gjakova and elsewhere in the region.
With continuing tension in the region and ongoing uncertainty over Kosovo's future, the uneasily coexisting communities of Kosovo effectively remain in limbo, albeit under the supervision of the UN. The aims of Kosovo Youth Education Project are to create, develop and support community youth programmes in Kosovo, working together with students and children from all ethnic groups including youngsters with special needs. Since July 2005 the Project has organised successful Summer Schools in Gjakova, Kosovo.
Against this sensitive background, brand imagery and use of colour had to avoid any suggestion of national or ethnic orientation. The identity was designed to appeal in particular to the 8-18 year old orphans who attend the summer schools, yet be flexible enough to adopt a more serious tone in a fundraising context. A full range of stationery, posters and other communications for events and fundraising have been designed and produced.
